In this series, each Friday, I want to share a different child or group of children with you who are available for adoption and listed through the adoption advocacy website Reece’s Rainbow. All the kids who are listed on RR from Sarah’s Covenant Homes, India, the focus of my previous posts, have been posted about, so now I am focusing on a few kids or a sibling group listed on the site each Friday going forward. When more SCH kids are listed, I’ll continue to feature them!
Please note that the names used on RR are usually not the childrens’ real names, and their real names will only be shared with seriously interested families in order to protect their identity.
Both today’s kids are located in Asia and are at risk of aging out! This means they must be adopted before their respective 14th birthdays internationally.
Today’s first featured ‘Find Me Friday’ child is: Joshua! He lives in an Asian country and is waiting for his family to find him. He is available to married couples and single moms! AT RISK OF AGING OUT! MUST BE ADOPTED BY NOVEMBER 2020!
He currently has a little over $70 in his FSP – let’s help grow this boy’s grant to make it easier for his family to bring him home!
PD: Joshua sits in his wheelchair in a school setting, wearing a yellow long-sleeve shirt & jeans w/ a bandanna around his neck & a brilliant smile! He has short, black hair & almond-shaped brown eyes.
Joshua’s Medical History
Joshua was born with cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair to get around.
He can move himself independently from chair to bed or bathroom without help. He manages to get himself around in the wheelchair, including a daily 30-minute trip to school! He is able to pull himself to a stand at a table, and can sit unsupported on a stool. He does have some high muscle tone, which affects his legs and arms. His hands are affected, but he is able to feed himself, brush his own teeth, and do puzzles. He can also dress himself independently.
In ICC’s care, Joshua has grown in confidence and ability. He is member of the Conductive Education group, where he receives education and therapy to help develop his abilities. Joshua has good communication skills and expresses his opinions and wishes with his teachers, carers, therapists, and friends. He enjoys learning, and is an active member of his education and therapy classes. He would benefit from speech and language therapy to help understand the cause of his “hoarse” voice.
Joshua has lots of learning potential and really enjoys going to daily classes. He is able to concentrate during class, ask questions, and respond appropriately. His education is behind due to his delayed opportunity to receive education. Joshua recognizes colors, animals, and 40 characters. He can count, recognize numbers, and do simple math.
Other information About Joshua
Joshua was born in 2006 and needs to be adopted internationally before his November birthday!
Joshua is such a handsome fellow with a bright smile. Those close to him say he is a lovely boy, very polite and keen to learn and be more independent. He has seen several of his friends adopted, and has asked repeatedly of staff when he will have a forever family. He understands what adoption means and longs for a family of his own.
Today’s first featured ‘Find Me Friday’ child is: Hedda! She lives in an Asian country and is waiting for her family to find her. She is available to married couples and single moms! AT RISK OF AGING OUT! MUST BE ADOPTED BY APRIL 2021!
She currently has a little under $20 in her FSP. Let’s help grow this girl’s grant so it’s easier for her forever family to bring her home!
In addition, eligible families may qualify for a grant through a specific adoption agency and Brittany’s Hope Foundation, in addition to a $12,500 Child Specific Grant (exp 6/1/2020). These grants are not offered or ensured by Reece’s Rainbow.
PD: Hedda is doing a craft in a classroom. She wears a white & orange Adidas t-shirt. She appears to be concentrating intently on painting a figure, & has a slight smile. Her black hair is pulled up into a ponytail.
Hedda’s Medical History
Hedda has been diagnosed with a metabolic condition called Guillain Barre Syndrome. Hedda has a (GSD) (author’s note: not sure what this means, I’m sure RR or her agency could clarify) and there are no developmental concerns with her.
Hedda is currently enrolled in elementary school.
Other information About Hedda
Hedda was born in 2007. In April of 2021, she will turn 14 years old, age out, and become ineligible to be adopted by an international family. Let’s make this the last year she lives in an orphanage. Could your family be hers?
Hedda is described as outgoing; she loves playing with other children, enjoys all foods, and is a good singer and dancer. She performs at an annual show within the orphanage. She is attached to a caregiver, but also looking forward to being adopted. She has great self-care skills, is tidy with with her belongings, and is able to pull her hair into a ponytail.
