Jubilee Home: Current Needs!

Welcome to a post all about the current needs of Jubilee Home!

Jubilee Home is home to 14 joyful, beautiful, amazing girls! They have a team of caregivers, nurses, teachers, and cooking staff in their apartment building, as well as a foster mom and various volunteers. The girls who live at Jubilee have varying needs and disabilities including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and intellectual disabilities, among other needs. Some are wheelchair users, while others get around using other methods!

They learn academics and practice pre-vocational and vocational skills, as well as life skills, to the best of their abilities. Some of the girls learn to make beaded or threaded bracelets as a vocation. Many love to help out around the house! They range in age from preteen to young adult. They are each unique in their own special way!

Special Current Needs

G-Tubes for *Promise and *Alana!

Current foster mom Micah says:

Both *Promise and *Alana have been approved to get g-tubes. This will help them gain a little weight and help with their overall nutrition. After *Promise’s stay in the hospital, it has been decided that a g-tube would be helpful for her nutrition. Despite many efforts, *Alana has struggled to gain weight, and a g-tube would help her a lot.

Former volunteer and advocate KT adds:

*Alana is in need of a g-tube to help support her nutrition. With this support, she can grow healthier and stronger. The g-tube can not be placed until the funds are available. Even a small donation will help reach the goal!

Birthday Support!

Did you know you can sponsor a birthday party for a young lady who lives at Jubilee home?? It’s a fantastic, easy way to donate and ensure each girl is thoroughly celebrated! Each month prior, the next month’s birthdays will appear on the birthday sponsorship page! For example, in early July, birthdays will be posted for August.

“Birthdays are a big deal around here and with 130 kids, there are many reasons to celebrate. Our Birthday Program was created to provide you with a way to bless our kids in a very special way on their special day. Give to our birthday fund to help us provide a cake and memories to share for years to come. For a donation of any amount to our birthday fund, you will receive an email with highlights from the party that you sponsored. A donation of just $10 will cover a cake for the birthday child to enjoy!”

  • January: *Amy, *Rhoda
  • February: *Felicia; Ruthie
  • March: *Alana
  • April: *Ginger
  • May: *Jessie; *Zoe
  • June: *Dorothy
  • July: *Evi

There are currently no birthdays at Jubilee in November or December.

Amazon Wishlists!

Use the wishlists below to provide needed items to the girls and young women at Jubilee by purchasing from Amazon India (note that you will need a separate account from your home country’s Amazon site to place orders).

An important part of SCH’s work is YOU! SCH relies on donations to keep running. Donation opportunities include child sponsors at any cost per month, from as low as $25/month. Sponsorship usually costs between $300 and $500 per child, depending on complexity of needs and which city they live in (Ongole or Hyderabad).

You can sponsor any child who needs additional funding at SCH by using the resources found here. Use these resources to get involved in other ways, such as becoming an advocate or volunteering. You can also become a medical sponsor (ideal for large groups or organizations who wish to support SCH) and donate toward monthly emergency medical expenses; or an educational sponsor and donate toward a specific on-site school. Learn about other ways to give charitably to SCH here, and check back often for additional opportunities.

*A note about names: SCH uses online nicknames for the children in order to protect their identity, per Indian government guidelines which state that children in care may not have identifying photos of them on the internet, as well as no identifying information such as birth name, place of origin, etc.
