Anchor Home: Current Needs!

Sari
PD: A girl stands against a white wall, wearing a traditional Indian sari that is hot pink, blue, & gold w/ paisley accents & sparkly glitter. Her hands are at her sides, wearing blue bangles.

Anchor Home is as a critical care facility for children who have the most pressing medical needs. This home is equipped with live-in, around-the-clock nursing staff who are able to treat the ongoing needs of our little ones, as well as an elevator to help meet the transportation needs of our less-mobile children who may be wheelchair users. Anchor Home is made of two families living in apartment-style flats: Anchor Gold and Anchor Navy. There is an on-site school, as well.

Learn more about the school, called Little Lights Special School, as well as donate toward operational costs, here.

Special Current Needs

Former foster mom Alicia says:

*Talitha, who [lives at Anchor Gold and] was previously dependent on oxygen, is off of it! She is doing so well and is more awake and alert than she has been in a long time. We are so thankful to be experiencing this little miracle child live up to her name once again. If you’d like to help with her hospital bill from Nov/Dec, you can go to the link below!

Birthday Support!

Did you know you can sponsor a birthday party for a child who lives at Anchor home?? It’s a fantastic, easy way to donate and ensure each girl is thoroughly celebrated! Each month prior, the next month’s birthdays will appear on the birthday sponsorship page! For example, in early July, birthdays will be posted for August.

“Birthdays are a big deal around here and with 130 kids, there are many reasons to celebrate. Our Birthday Program was created to provide you with a way to bless our kids in a very special way on their special day. Give to our birthday fund to help us provide a cake and memories to share for years to come. For a donation of any amount to our birthday fund, you will receive an email with highlights from the party that you sponsored. A donation of just $10 will cover a cake for the birthday child to enjoy!”

Other Ways to Help SCH

An important part of SCH’s work is YOU! SCH relies on donations to keep running. Donation opportunities include child sponsors at any cost per month, from as low as $25/month. Sponsorship usually costs between $300 and $500 per child, depending on complexity of needs and which city they live in (Ongole or Hyderabad).

You can also sponsor any child who needs additional funding at SCH by using the resources found here. Use these resources to get involved in other ways, such as becoming an advocate. You can also become a medical sponsor (ideal for large groups or organizations who wish to support SCH) and donate toward monthly emergency medical expenses; or become an educational sponsor and donate toward a specific on-site school. Learn about other ways to give charitably to SCH here, and check back often for additional opportunities.

*A note about names: SCH uses online nicknames for the children in order to protect their identity, per Indian government guidelines which state that children in care may not have identifying photos of them on the internet, as well as no identifying information such as birth name, place of origin, etc.

PD: the SCH logo – black text reads ‘sch’; red text below reads ‘sarah’s covenant homes’; heart-shaped flowers bloom from the name.
