In this series, each Friday, I want to share a different child or children with you who is available for adoption and listed through the adoption advocacy website Reece’s Rainbow. All the kids who are listed on RR from Sarah’s Covenant Homes, India, the focus of my previous posts, have been posted about, so now I am focusing on a few kids or a sibling group listed on the site each Friday going forward. When more SCH kids are listed, I’ll continue to feature them!
Please note that the names used on RR are usually not the childrens’ real names, and their real names will only be shared with seriously interested families in order to protect their identity.
Today’s first featured ‘Find Me Friday’ kid is: Nolan! He was born in September 2004, lives in an Eastern European country, and is waiting for his family to find him. He is available to large families and older parents. Nolan is at risk of aging out! He has been listed since August 2010. That’s practically forever to wait for a family, and on his profile you can see him grow up in pictures 😦
Nolan has a huge grant of $19,597.50 available towards the cost of his adoption! A family must have a completed homestudy to commit to Nolan. Due to the size of Nolan’s grant, 50% of grant funds will be available upon receiving a travel date, and the other 50% upon passing court.
I am also eligible for an Older Child Grant! Grant funding is dependent on a completed application and available funds. For more information, visit: Other Angels Older Child Grant
PD: Nolan has blonde hair & blue eyes. He has a brilliant smile & wears a red, orange, & cream striped sweater.
Nolan’s Medical History
Nolan has been diagnosed with some long-term effects of early trauma, including right-sided hemiparesis (muscle weakness). He also has been diagnosed with mild mental delays, has seizures (unclear whether he receives medication for this), is flat-footed, and has farsightedness. He does not appear to wear glasses.
Other Information About Nolan
Nolan is such a handsome boy who needs a loving family! Nolan is such a handsome boy! He has developed fine motor skills and understands everything. He speaks, but it is hard to understand him. Nolan is very physically active, happy and cooperative, easily making friends with other children. A family living in the states who has 3 children, one who is significantly disabled, has taken a special interest in Nolan, but cannot add him to their family due to the needs of their children.
Per the family, “Nolan’s eyes and smile caught our heart. He is close in age to one of our own children. We hope this gift will enable someone to give Nolan the chance to live outside an institution.”
Today’s second featured ‘Find Me Friday’ kid is: Paige! She was born in 2004, lives in an Eastern European country, and is waiting for her family to find her. She’s available to large families and older parents. She’s been listed since October 2012. That is, once again, too long to wait for a family!
I am eligible for a $15,000 grant! For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
PD1: Tiny Paige sits in a chair, wearing a white dress w/ black trim, white tights, & sandals, w/ a huge white bow in her long blonde hair. She looks so much healthier than previous photos.
PD2: Paige sits in a bouncer seat w/ stuffed animals on her lap. She has a forlorn expression & a shaved head, & she does not make eye contact w/ the camera.
Paige’s Medical History
Paige was born with Down Syndrome, and thus has some developmental delays. He has cardiopathia (I believe they are trying to say ‘cardiomyopathy‘, a common heart condition for people with Down Syndrome, but do not know for sure; RR/her agency should be able to clarify). She has an umbilical hernia, and it isn’t stated whether she has had surgery to correct this. She also has strabismus (convergent squint).
Other Information About Paige
Paige had previously been living with her mother until she lost her rights. She can sit independently and crawl! Her speech is not well-developed, but she can partially understand what you are saying. She has a very short attention span.
Update June 2013:
Lovely Paige has hair now! She broke my heart. She was just sitting on the couch, rocking back and forth, and didn’t respond at all when I came over to her. Poor, sweet thing!! The nannies love her, but she needs more than they can give. I am not sure if the move was hard on her or what, but she just rocked and rocked.
