Update July 2019: Unfortunately, Yvonne aged out before a family could be found for her.
Update January 2019: unfortunately, Xander aged out before a family could be found for him.
In this series, each Friday, I want to share a different child with you who is available for adoption and listed through the adoption advocacy website Reece’s Rainbow. All the kids who are currently listed on RR from Sarah’s Covenant Homes, India, have been posted about, so now I am focusing on a few kids or a sibling group listed on the site each Friday going forward. When more SCH kids are listed, I’ll continue to feature them!
Please note that the names used on RR are usually not the childrens’ real names, and their real names will only be shared with seriously interested families in order to protect their identity.
I missed last week, so this week, you get 2 posts! In this post, I will introduce you to to 2 kids waiting in Asia.
The first child of this post is Yvonne! Yvonne was born in July 2005. She lives in an Asian country. She is available to single moms! She has been listed since May 2013. Yvonne is at risk of aging out and must be adopted by 14 internationally.
*** I am eligible for a $15,000 Older Child Grant! For more information, email email@example.com
PD: Yvonne sits waving at the camera w/ a timid smile! She has pretty black hair & dark brown almond-shaped eyes. Some shorter hair has fallen into her face, & the rest is pulled back into a ponytail. She’s wearing a brown & cream checked top.
Yvonne’s Medical History
Yvonne has been diagnosed with Down syndrome and is described as ‘high functioning’. She has no listed health concerns.
Yvonne could read over 50 Chinese characters and count and write from 1 to 10 at 8 years old. Yvonne loves to perform and has natural grace. When she was younger, she was chosen to be the dance leader at her orphanage preschool (there is a photo of her in a beautiful dance costume on her RR profile!). When she completes a project, she loves sharing it with her foster mom and basking in her praise. Although she can be stubborn at times, Yvonne mostly listens and follows directions well.
Other Information About Yvonne
Yvonne is described as a polite and friendly girl. She is also outgoing and sensible. “She likes to be tidy and beautiful,” said a visiting social worker. “So many times, I saw her combing her hair.” For the past year, Yvonne has lived in a group home in Hebei, China, where she gets to experience family life in the care of a foster mother and father. In the group home, she has taken on a ‘big sister’ role, and often helps her foster mom care for the younger children. In her foster family, she is like an elder sister who takes care of her younger siblings. Whenever there are conflicts between her siblings, she will do mediation for them. She acts like a little judge who is amiable but dignified. Therefore, her siblings all have faith in her. Yvonne loved on all the kids at the SWI, too. She tucked them all in and told the visitors all about them. Yvonne is a good assistant. When her foster parents are cooking, she always helps them with trimming vegetables, washing dishes or sweeping the floor. She does all these things as good as an adult. When her foster parents need to go out, she takes good care of her siblings so let her parents don’t need to worry. She does so many things and her parents always praise her and love her so much.
The second child in this post is Xander! Xander was born in March 2005. He lives in an Asian country and is available to single moms! He has been listed since April 2013.
PD: Xander sits on a bicycle-style ride-on toy, wearing a blue sweater & jeans. He has an inquisitive expression, dark hair shaved short, & deep, beautiful almond-shaped eyes.
Xander’s Medical History
Xander has been diagnosed with Down syndrome. He has no listed health concerns.
Xander attends school in his orphanage, from what I can gather. At 6 years, 1 month old, he was described as active, restless, and unquiet. He was able to greet familiar people and call “teacher, aunt, uncle, brother, sister”. He was observed to be really naughty and played in class, disliking being restricted. Playing is in the nature of boys, however, the teacher demanded him to keep classroom to discipline so he wouldn’t affect other kids. He was compliant to the teacher’s words. At the age of 6 years, 7 months, Xander behaved well in class and was praised many times by a teacher. However, his expressive ability was not good enough and he couldn’t express himself with whole sentences, so most of the time he needed gestures. A teacher said he had made big improvements, so we trust he will express himself fluently and naturally in the future.
Other Information About Xander
Xander was found abandoned at 6 years old. According to a visitor, he’s an active child, running all around, and was even running to go upstairs- however, he never did so again after a teacher’s criticism so the visitors could see he is an obedient child. At 6 years, 7 months old, Xander did well in all aspects of taking care of himself: he feeds himself, washes the dishes after meals, and takes showers independently, as well as putting on his own clothes, socks, and shoes. He attends to the washroom independently and occasionally helps a caretaker to do work within his abilities.
