Find Me Friday: Kassidy!

PD: RR’s logo states the name ‘Reece’s Rainbow’ across the center, w/ their signature 3 diagonal brush strokes in blue, pink, & green. Above & below in a circle are the words ‘Special needs adoption support’.

In this series, each Friday, I want to share a different child with you who is available for adoption and listed through the adoption advocacy website Reece’s Rainbow. All the kids who are listed on RR from Sarah’s Covenant Homes, India, the focus of my previous posts, have been posted about, so now I am focusing on 1 or 2 kids or a sibling group listed on the site each Friday going forward. When more SCH kids are listed, I’ll continue to feature them!

Please note that the names used on RR are usually not the childrens’ real names, and their real names will only be shared with seriously interested families in order to protect their identity.

Today’s featured ‘Find Me Friday’ kid is: Kassidy! Let’s find her family! Kassidy was born in 2009, lives in China, and is waiting for her family to find her. She is eligible to be adopted by single moms! SIGNIFICANT RISK! UNEXPLAINED DETERIORATION, READ ON BELOW!

PD: Kassidy is sitting in a crib w/ her legs criss-cross applesauce, clutching her hands up near her face. She is not smiling & appears very thin and sickly. She is wearing a blue patterned sweatshirt & pants.

All About Me

Meet Kassidy! She is such a beautiful little love. Kassidy is blind (she appears to have anophthalmia, or missing eyes) and has been diagnosed with anemia. She very urgently needs to be adopted! She is 7 years old and her health is declining for unknown reasons since her last official medical report. She is thinning down and losing her spark. She really needs a family! Our team’s PT feels there is a possibility she could improve so much with the love of a family and access to good medical care! I need to see this sweet girl thrive.

Report from November 2016, from an advocate who met Kassidy:

Kassidy did not interact with her environment or the caregiver to determine her personality. She maintained fetal position sleeping. She moved her face and arms in response to a cold washcloth placed on her face. We observed no noises. She has low muscle tone, hyporeflexia, and no contractures were noted. She cannot stand or walk independently. She appears to be failure to thrive; she overall demonstrates severe delays in all domains. She appears to have declined in general health, per report of previous function.

PD: Kassidy sits in a crib wearing a red traditional top & red pants. She has full, chubby cheeks & a clear complexion.

This photo vs. the one earlier in this post really highlights Kassidy’s deterioration. She now looks so sickly.

Report from April 2011:

At 19 months, Kassidy was extroverted, active, and restless; sometimes, she was stubborn. She loved being cuddled by caregivers the most. Since she is smart and lovely, everyone loves her and hopes she can find a family of her own to enjoy a happy and lovely family life, facilitating her healthy development. She was described as smart and was able to crawl, take steps while holding onto handrails, take steps with 1 hand held, imitate words, and speak 3-5 words. She used her thumbs and index fingers deftly, and was able to pick up a pill with her thumbs and index fingers. She was a very cute baby with a fair complexion. She was not a picky eater and ate everything, and therefore had a chubby face. She often sucked her fingers as if sucking a soother, which was very cute.
