This post will feature a list of different ways SCH can be supported.

General Fund

Donate to the general fund here!

Monthly Child Sponsorship

Sponsorship covers a variety of needs, from basic to specific. It covers nutritious meals (and supplements, if necessary), along with clean drinking water; medical care including doctor’s visits, medications and specialty items such as mobility aids/prostheses, and emergency surgeries; an ayah (or caregiver) & nursing staff; the cost of rent that provides a safe place to live; and clean clothes to wear. It also covers any private school fees, which is why some sponsorships are higher than others. But it also provides so much more! It provides the assurance that that child or young adult will never go without the necessities they require to live a fulfilled, pain-free life. It provides peace of mind that there are people out there who support the child or young adult, even when times are tough.

Having all the children at SCH sponsored will help reduce the strain that the cost of regular care places upon emergency situations, so that more general donation funds are freed up to cover those events that are unexpected.

Additional Sponsorship Programs at SCH

  • One-time Birthday Sponsorship:
    • Donate toward a birthday taking place each month!

“Birthdays are a big deal around here, and with 150+ kids, there are many reasons to celebrate. Our Birthday Program was created to provide you with a way to bless our kids in a very special way on their special day. Give to our birthday fund to help us provide a cake, some gifts and memories to share for years to come.”

  • Monthly or one-time Medical Sponsorship:
    • Donate monthly toward medical expenses!

“Depending on the medical needs at the time, SCH can spend up to $10,000 a month on hospital stays, surgeries, doctor’s appointments, and medications. To be able to keep up with the ongoing medical needs of our kids, we offer recurring monthly sponsorship for as little as $25 a month.”

Monthly or one-time on- or off-site Education Sponsorship:

  • Donate monthly or give one-time toward an on-site school in one of the 7 foster homes, or give toward an off-site education tuition!

“Sending a child to school can cost between $65 to $100 a month, dependent [up]on school and grade level. This covers the cost of uniforms, books, supplies, tuition, and transportation to and from school. By joining the education sponsorship team, you can invest in the future of a child. Sponsorship starts as low as $25 a month. By becoming a education sponsor, you are making a brighter future for our kids. In India, being able to attend school is a privilege, rather than a right like in some countries. Being both an orphan and a child with special needs, it is even more rare to have the opportunity for an education. Your monthly support ensures that every one of our children is able to have that privilege.

The chance to learn and develop life skills is crucial, especially for children with special needs. Being able to attend school gives our children a sense of pride and accomplishment. We set goals to allow consistent improvement while instilling a sense of value and purpose. Simply being able to attend school helps our kids break out of the stigma associated with special needs. Over the years we have been able to see remarkable improvements in the development of our children. Your monthly support helps open the door to a bright future that can only be made possible by a quality education.”

Other Ways to Give

Home Donations

You can donate directly to a specific home at any time! Give a one-time gift, or sign up to sponsor that home monthly. Click the name of each home below to be redirected to its Kindful page.

Amazon India Wishlists

You can also support SCH by purchasing needed items via Amazon India (note that you will need a separate account on the site to make purchases; however, it’s fast, simple, and secure)!

To give, you can refer to this page on SCH’s official site, or check out this page on my blog detailing all the foster home wishlists of which I’m aware.

Vocational Program

SCH is developing their vocational program! Right now, the easiest way to support the vocational program, where young adults make bracelets currently using embroidery thread and beads, is to purchase items through Amazon from this wishlist.

More Resources

Learn about other ways to give charitably to SCH here, and check back often for additional opportunities. Use these resources to get involved in other ways, such as becoming an advocate or volunteering.

*A note about names: SCH uses online nicknames for the children in order to protect their identity, per Indian governmental guidelines which state that children in care may not have identifying photos of them on the internet, as well as no identifying information such as birth name, place of origin, etc.
