105 in 105, day 98: *Sam!

PD: A girl stands against a white wall, wearing a traditional Indian sari that is hot pink, blue, & gold w/ paisley accents & sparkly glitter. Her hands are at her sides, wearing blue bangles.

Update 2019:

*Sam still needs $55/month to be fully sponsored. Sign up to sponsor him here. Sam’s g-tube placement surgery was successful and has helped him gain healthy weight!

From his sponsorship page:

*Sam is one of the handsome teenagers at Courage Home who loves one-on-one attention, being read to, music, and head massages. *Sam is incredibly ticklish, especially on his arms and toes. His smile is freely given to those he loves and knows, his laugh a beautiful sound. He understands his native language of Telugu and learns more words in English every day!

Update 2017:

*Sam now lives at Courage Home Teal in Hyderabad, where he continues to thrive in the company of his foster brothers. He loves to be held and talked to. *Sam will soon receive a g-tube, so he can receive the proper nutrition he needs! He will soon have a couple operations for some of his medical conditions, and he needs to be in the best physical shape possible. The g-tube will assist with this in allowing him to get to a healthy body weight. I can’t wait to watch this guy grow!

Original post:

Today is *Sam‘s day!

*Sam has the sweetest laugh!  He has cerebral palsy, a separate seizure disorder, and an intellectual disability, and is happy and joyful as can be! He is a wheelchair user who loves to hang out with his foster brothers. He also receives physiotherapy weekly and participates in a music class. *Sam loved his recent trip to the beach – he enjoyed the sand and waves with a volunteer.

Though *Sam has complex medical needs, don’t let his diagnoses look like a laundry list! *Sam is a beautiful little boy who is full of life. He loves being held, spoken to, and interacted with more than anything in the world. He spends lots of time hanging out with his foster brothers!

*Sam has been at SCH since nearly the beginning, and has progressed sooo much! He is described as sweet, with a totally endearing smile, and he also has a wonderful giggle. He loves to be tickled! 🙂 *Sam is a cutie, for sure.

Sponsorship ensures *Sam continues to grow and thrive by providing him with nutritious food and supplements, clean drinking water, medical care (doctor’s visits, physiotherapy, medications), his ayah and nurse, a safe bed to sleep in, and clothes on his back, plus so much more!

Become part of *Sam’s village; let him know you’re standing behind him, cheering him on at every step of his journey through life. *Sam is so worthy of both love and sponsorship.

If you can’t afford to sponsor a child, please pass the children’s stories on!  SHARE them wherever you can, so that they may receive the most exposure to possible sponsors as they can.

About Me: I am a special little boy with spastic cerebral palsy, epilepsy/a seizure disorder, and an intellectual disability. I love to be held and talked to, and have the cutest little giggle.

Spread the word, sponsor a child.

An important part of SCH’s work is YOU! SCH relies on donations to keep running. Donation opportunities include child sponsors at any cost per month, from as low as $25/month. Sponsorship usually costs between $300 and $500 per child, depending on complexity of needs and which city they live in (Ongole or Hyderabad).

You can sponsor any child who needs additional funding at SCH by using the resources found here. Use these resources to get involved in other ways, such as becoming an advocate or volunteering. You can also become a medical sponsor (ideal for large groups or organizations who wish to support SCH) and donate toward monthly emergency medical expenses; or become an educational sponsor and donate toward a specific on-site school. Learn about other ways to give charitably to SCH here, and check back often for additional opportunities. You can send gifts via Amazon India, make a one-time, general donation, pray if that is your calling, or volunteer at home or in India yourself.

*A note about names: SCH uses online nicknames for the children in order to protect their identity, per Indian government guidelines which state that children in care may not have identifying photos of them on the internet, as well as no identifying information such as birth name, place of origin, etc.

PD: the SCH logo – black text reads ‘sch’; red text below reads ‘sarah’s covenant homes’; heart-shaped flowers bloom from the name.
