Update 2017: *Keren is described as a gentle, happy, and quiet little angel who now lives at Faith Home. She’s making strides and growing stronger every day. She loves music, to be held, and to interact with her caregivers. *Keren has a customized wheelchair to allow her to get around, and loves to be pushed in it.
Beautiful *Keren is 6 years old and has already been through so much within that time. She survived a bout of meningitis at 9 months old, which left her blind with hydrocephalus and brain damage. She has survived pneumonia. She was born with cerebral palsy, and has been diagnosed with intellectual disability.
And yet, she is still here! *Keren brings so much life and happiness to people’s lives with her beautiful smile. *Keren is healthy now, and in a much better place in her life. She isn’t sitting or standing without support, but she brings sunshine into the world because she is here.
From her sponsorship page:
Birth Date: November 2006
Date to SCH: February 2008
Other Details About Me: I have cerebral palsy, an intellectual disability, and am blind. I survived an attack of meningitis when I was nine months old, which left me blind and with hydrocephalus. When I first came to SCH, I cried a lot, because I had pneumonia. Since then, my condition has improved, and I am so much happier.
Having read enough posts on this blog by now, you know what great things sponsorship goes toward. Please do not hesitate to take one of these children into your heart and pledge a monthly sponsorship to them, in order to help continue the excellent care they receive as a big family at SCH.
So, without further ado, I want to introduce you to some other children who have been previously featured, but do not yet have full sponsorship:
Let’s get these children fully sponsored! Have a great evening 🙂
Spread the word, sponsor a child.
An important part of SCH’s work is YOU! SCH relies on donations to keep running. Donation opportunities include child sponsors at any cost per month, from as low as $25/month. Sponsorship usually costs between $300 and $500 per child, depending on complexity of needs and which city they live in (Ongole or Hyderabad).
You can sponsor any child who needs additional funding at SCH by using the resources found here. Use these resources to get involved in other ways, such as becoming an advocate or volunteering. You can also become a medical sponsor (ideal for large groups or organizations who wish to support SCH) and donate toward monthly emergency medical expenses; or an educational sponsor and donate toward a specific on-site school. Learn about other ways to give charitably to SCH here, and check back often for additional opportunities.
*A note about names: SCH uses online nicknames for the children in order to protect their identity, per Indian governmental guidelines which state that children in care may not have identifying photos of them on the internet, as well as no identifying information such as birth name, place of origin, etc.
You can also send gifts via Amazon India, make a one-time, general donation, pray if that is your calling, or volunteer at home or in India yourself by using these resources!
