Update March 2018: *Nicky has been hospitalized for about a month now due to an unknown illness.
His current houseparent, Nathan, says:
*Nicky’s medical bill has grown yet again, as our stay has been almost a month with multiple x-rays, scopes, nebulizations, and antibiotics used to keep *Nicky going strong. If you would like to give, you can do so through this link!
*Nicky recently underwent a spinal fusion surgery for severe scoliosis, which had been previously un-treated. This surgery will greatly improve his quality of life, as his scoliosis had been so severe, it was beginning to affect his surrounding organs. He communicates with eye movement and sounds.
*Nicky now lives at Courage Home Teal, this season being fostered by volunteer Nathan, with whom *Nicky has really bonded! He’s loving being the big brother. While he loves watching his brothers play, by far his favorite thing to do is to look at magazines of cars (red Corvettes are his favorite). He communicates using eye movement and sounds, uses a customized wheelchair, and attends school at home with a tutor.
Meet sweet, 10-year-old *Nicky! He has a cute smile and the most beautiful brown eyes. *Nicky has a magical ability to draw you in with only his eyes – so expressive and gentle. *Nicky has severe cerebral palsy that keeps him from moving much, yet he is able to communicate very well. But none of these things take away from his gentle spirit, or make him any less worthy of love. He has a great sense of humor, enjoys listening to music, looking at car magazines, and loves to be in the middle of the action! Although he cannot sit independently without the use of his wheelchair, he likes to go out and enjoy the sun and breeze – it always puts him in a peaceful, calm state. What a special kid! I would be so honored to meet *Nicky some day.
Are you one of *Nicky’s sponsors? Just think of everything sponsorship goes toward – physiotherapy, food, safe water, a place to sleep and people who care for *Nicky, and so much more. Please consider helping this amazing boy continue to thrive. He is so worth it.

Spread the word, sponsor a child.
An important part of SCH’s work is YOU! SCH relies on donations to keep running. Donation opportunities include child sponsors at any cost per month, from as low as $25/month. Sponsorship usually costs between $300 and $500 per child, depending on complexity of needs and which city they live in (Ongole or Hyderabad).
You can sponsor any child who needs additional funding at SCH by using the resources found here. Use these resources to get involved in other ways, such as becoming an advocate or volunteering. You can also become a medical sponsor (ideal for large groups or organizations who wish to support SCH) and donate toward monthly emergency medical expenses; or an educational sponsor and donate toward a specific on-site school. Learn about other ways to give charitably to SCH here, and check back often for additional opportunities.
*A note about names: SCH uses online nicknames for the children in order to protect their identity, per Indian governmental guidelines which state that children in care may not have identifying photos of them on the internet, as well as no identifying information such as birth name, place of origin, etc.
You can also send gifts via Amazon India, make a one-time, general donation, pray if that is your calling, or volunteer at home or in India yourself by using these resources!
