105 in 105, day 60: Prakash!

PD: A girl stands against a white wall, wearing a traditional Indian sari that is hot pink, blue, & gold w/ paisley accents & sparkly glitter. Her hands are at her sides, wearing blue bangles.

Update 2018: *Prakash needs $275/month in sponsorship to be fully sponsored. Sign up here to become part of his team. When you sign up to sponsor him, you will receive quarterly updates (that’s 4x/year!) on his progress. *Prakash participates in a vocational training program on-site in his home.

Update 2017: *Prakash lives at Victory Home. He loves meeting new people, making crafts, and has the biggest grin you’ve ever seen.

Today is *Prakash’s day! 11 year old, all-boy *Prakash has Apert Syndrome (like *Rebekah from Jubilee Home, who needs just $30/month more to be fully sponsored), which caused the bones in the skull to fuse prematurely and usually presents with fused fingers and toes as well. Learn more about this condition by clicking here, to be re-directed to the informational website! *Prakash has had a few surgeries to separate his fingers, as well as and an operation on his skull, but he will likely have to endure a few more surgeries as he continues to grow. *Prakash also has an intellectual disability, but this doesn’t stop him from sneaking back up to his on-site classroom to play with the blocks uninhibited! That way, he doesn’t have to share them.

*Prakash is very active, and loves to be in the center of the commotion – no matter where it is! This boy looks like so much fun. And he’s handsome, too! *Prakash is described as mischievous and lovable, not to mention always ready to greet you. He likes to play with blocks and hang out with his brothers.

Are you one of *Prakash’s sponsors? Sponsorship pays for routine medical care, on-site, appropriate education, an ayah, caregiver, nurse, and/or foster parent(s), nutritious food and clean drinking water, and so, so much more!

Sponsoring *Prakash lets him know his village is watching over him from afar. Please consider giving a monthly donation to his sponsorship fund – this energetic, happy, sneaky boy deserves it.

From his sponsorship page:

Name: Prakash

Age: 11

Birth Date: June 2001

Date to SCH: January 2008

Other Details About Me: I have Apert Syndrome and an Intellectual Disability. I am an active boy who will greet you with a big smile.

Spread the word, sponsor a child.

An important part of SCH’s work is YOU! Although *Prakash is fully sponsored, other children at SCH are not. SCH relies on donations to keep running. Donation opportunities include child sponsors at any cost per month, from as low as $25/month. Sponsorship usually costs between $300 and $500 per child, depending on complexity of needs and which city they live in (Ongole or Hyderabad).

You can sponsor any child who needs additional funding at SCH by using the resources found here. Use these resources to get involved in other ways, such as becoming an advocate or volunteering. You can also become a medical sponsor (ideal for large groups or organizations who wish to support SCH) and donate toward monthly emergency medical expenses; or an educational sponsor and donate toward a specific on-site school. Learn about other ways to give charitably to SCH here, and check back often for additional opportunities.

*A note about names: SCH uses online nicknames for the children in order to protect their identity, per Indian governmental guidelines which state that children in care may not have identifying photos of them on the internet, as well as no identifying information such as birth name, place of origin, etc.

You can also send gifts via Amazon India, make a one-time, general donation, pray if that is your calling, or volunteer at home or in India yourself by using these resources!
