Update 2017: *Michael recently transitioned from a home with younger boys to Victory Home, where most of the older young men at SCH live! He attends on-site school with a tutor. Michael still needs $150/month to be fully sponsored. You can sign up to be one of his sponsors here!
Today’s featured child of the day is *Michael! He’s 12 years old and has autism. *Michael is nonverbal but not at all silent! *Michael is good at getting his needs across, regardless of the fact that he does not speak. He has an adorable laugh, loves spending time at the beach in the sand or playing in the water, and has a beautiful bright smile. He seems like a very hands-on kind of kid! It is noted that he loves to explore the world around him. Tactile or kinesthetic learning really hits home with me, because I am that way too – the best way for me to learn how to do something new is to do it myself! *Michael is so, so handsome. He has a contagious smile and laugh!
Are you one of *Michael’s sponsors? Sponsoring *Michael means he will continue to receive adequate food and supplements to help him grow, on-site education at SCH, a warm place to sleep, companions, brothers, full-time, round the clock care for as long as he stays at SCH (conceivably the rest of his life), and most important of all LOVE!
Show *Michael will be there to help with any needs he may have by considering a sponsorship.
From his sponsorship page:
Birth Date: June 2000
Date to SCH: March 2008
Other Details About Me: I have Autism. I love playing in the water!
Spread the word, sponsor a child.
An important part of SCH’s work is YOU! SCH relies on donations to keep running. Donation opportunities include child sponsors at any cost per month, from as low as $10/month. Sponsorship usually costs between $300 and $500 per child, depending on complexity of needs and which city they live in (Ongole or Hyderabad).
You can sponsor any child who needs additional funding at SCH by using the resources found here. Use these resources to get involved in other ways, such as becoming an advocate or volunteering. You can also become a medical sponsor (ideal for large groups or organizations who wish to support SCH) and donate toward monthly emergency medical expenses; or an educational sponsor and donate toward a specific on-site school. Learn about other ways to give charitably to SCH here, and check back often for additional opportunities.
*A note about names: SCH uses online nicknames for the children in order to protect their identity, per Indian governmental guidelines which state that children in care may not have identifying photos of them on the internet, as well as no identifying information such as birth name, place of origin, etc.
You can also send gifts via Amazon India, make a one-time, general donation, pray if that is your calling, or volunteer at home or in India yourself by using these resources!
