105 in 105, day 13: *Tessa!

Update 2018:

*Tessa needs $240/month to be fully sponsored. Are you one of her sponsors? Sign up here

She recently transitioned into Anchor home alongside 3 other girls from Faith Home, after Anchor experienced multiple adoptions!

From her sponsorship page:

*Tessa is a sweet-natured girl who has been gaining weight, adjusting well, and working on learning to sit up unassisted.

Update 2017:

*Tessa lives at Faith Home with 7 foster sisters! She is working on sitting independently in physical therapy. In the past, *Tessa received a custom wheelchair, which properly positions and supports her and allows her much more freedom to interact with the world around her.

Update 2015:

*Tessa is sitting with support. I believe she received or is receiving a custom wheelchair to help her sit better-positioned and interact with her foster family.

Original post:

Well here we are, already on day 13 of SCH’s 105 in 105 sponsorship campaign.

Today’s child is *Tessa!

*Tessa is a stunning 3-year-old who came to SCH under a year ago in September 2011 from the government orphanage. *Tessa has cerebral palsy. She can roll over by herself, loves having lots of tummy time to exercise her neck muscles, and hates having her diaper changed!

*Tessa is also becoming more and more verbal every day. *Tessa has beautiful, curly dark hair and soulful brown eyes.

Are you one of *Tessa’s sponsors?

From her sponsorship page:

Name:  Tessa

Age:  3

Birth Date:

Date to SCH: September 2011

Other Details About Me: I have cerebral palsy. I am relatively quiet and non-expressive, but I am slowly beginning to be more verbal. When my hair is grown out, I have beautiful, dark curls.

Spread the word, sponsor a child!

An important part of SCH’s work is YOU! SCH relies on donations to keep running. Donation opportunities include child sponsors at any cost per month, from as low as $25/month. Sponsorship usually costs between $300 and $500 per child, depending on complexity of needs and in which city they live (Ongole or Hyderabad).

You can sponsor any child who needs additional funding at SCH by using the resources found here. Use these resources to get involved in other ways, such as becoming an advocate or volunteering. You can also become a medical sponsor (ideal for large groups or organizations who wish to support SCH) and donate toward monthly emergency medical expenses; or an educational sponsor and donate toward a specific on-site school. Learn about other ways to give charitably to SCH here, and check back often for additional opportunities. You can send gifts via Amazon India, make a one-time, general donation, pray if that is your calling, or volunteer at home or in India yourself.

*A note about names: SCH uses online nicknames for the children in order to protect their identity, per Indian government guidelines which state that children in care may not have identifying photos of them on the internet, as well as no identifying information such as birth name, place of origin, etc.

PD: the SCH logo – black text reads ‘sch’; red text below reads ‘sarah’s covenant homes’; heart-shaped flowers bloom from the name.
