Update 2018: In memoriam: Sweet little one *Margaret has unfortunately passed away in June of this year. May she rest in peace and be wholly healed forever. Please keep those who loved her here on earth in your thoughts and prayers throughout this difficult time.
Update 2017: *Margaret lives at Anchor Home Navy. She has a few medically complex disabilities, but is almost always smiling. She has the biggest, brightest dark brown eyes and beautiful eyelashes!
*Margaret loves to swing in the hammock. She is a wheelchair user, and the wheelchair helps keep her better-positioned when she is sitting up, as well as offering support to her body. *Margaret recently underwent surgery to have her eardrums repaired, in order to help stop chronic ear infections.
Update 2015: *Margaret now lives in a foster home with babies and toddlers around her age.
Day 7’s child of the day for SCH’s 105 in 105 sponsorship campaign is *Margaret!
She is described as a content little girl, and her rare smiles are pure innocence. *Margaret is two years old and has lived at SCH less than a year. This little girl made me cry when I first saw her photo at the beginning of her life at SCH. She was so tiny, frail-looking, and had lost the will to live altogether.
Today, she is no longer the dying shell of a child in a government-run orphanage. She is healthy and growing every day, her appetite has fully recovered, and every photo I see of her just makes me smile! She is truly back from the brink and a changed child. See what love can do! *Margaret has cerebral palsy.
Are you one of *Margaret’s sponsors?
From her sponsorship page:
Birth Date: April 2010
Date to SCH: September 2011
Other Details About Me: I am a sweet girl who loves to be sung to. My smiles are rare, but so beautiful when they do show up.
An important part of SCH’s work is YOU! SCH relies on donations to keep running. Donation opportunities include child sponsors at any cost per month, from as low as $10/month. Sponsorship usually costs between $300 and $500 per child, depending on complexity of needs and in which city they live (Ongole or Hyderabad).
You can sponsor any child who needs additional funding at SCH by using the resources found here. Use these resources to get involved in other ways, such as becoming an advocate or volunteering. You can also become a medical sponsor (ideal for large groups or organizations who wish to support SCH) and donate toward monthly emergency medical expenses; or an educational sponsor and donate toward a specific on-site school. Learn about other ways to give charitably to SCH here, and check back often for additional opportunities.
*A note about names: SCH uses online nicknames for the children in order to protect their identity, per Indian government guidelines which state that children in care may not have identifying photos of them on the internet, as well as no identifying information such as birth name, place of origin, etc.
You can also send gifts via Amazon India, make a one-time, general donation, pray if that is your calling, or volunteer at home or in India yourself by using these resources!
